The City Clerk’s Office is the keeper of Dover’s vital records and can issue certified copies of records for events that occurred in Dover, as well as New Hampshire records through the statewide system.

How to request a record
- Request in person at City Hall, by mail, or online
- Provide a valid photo ID — certified copies are restricted to those with a direct and tangible interest
- Have the names, dates, and details of the record ready so staff can locate it
Marriage licenses & Justice of the Peace
Couples may apply for a marriage license at the Clerk’s Office; the office can also direct you to a Justice of the Peace to officiate.
